Alexander Rosen has openly talked for the first time since his forced exit from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, and in this conversation, he praised benefactor Dietmar Hopp. At 45, the ex-boss expressed regret at not being able to thank numerous associates during his departure.

"Kudos also to Dietmar Hopp, who gave me the responsibility to manage a Bundesliga club at the age of 33 over a decade ago," Rosen chatted with the German Press Agency.

Hoffenheim had instigated a change in the management team a few weeks before the Bundesliga season kick-off and parted ways with sports director Rosen. The controlling shareholders of the football operations GmbH, led by Hopp, allegedly agreed unanimously to oust Rosen from his position.

Simone Engelhardt, filling in as the interim chairperson of the registered association due to representing the majority shareholder, attributed the reason to future planning. Hopp, a 84-year-old figure who's been out of the limelight recently, and his inner circle still maintain a significant influence at TSG.

Rosen watches "with apprehension" the current events

A conflict over Rosen's dismissal between the club and the fan scene ensued. At the Bundesliga opener against Holstein Kiel, supporters in the south stand, along with their ultra-groups, boycotted the club's policies and withheld their backing from the team.

"Even if I survey the current events with a certain apprehension, I wish the best of luck to Rino (coach Pellegrino Matarazzo), the team, and the countless great employees as they face the challenges ahead," Rosen stated. The former head of professional football at Hoffenheim had served the Kraichgauer since 2010 and was later appointed managing director of sports a year ago.

Election of a new president on Monday

A new president will be chosen at TSG's forthcoming member assembly on Monday. As of now, the only named contender is the mayor of Sinsheim, Jörg Albrecht. Reports suggest that an individual from the ultra scene is also contemplating running for the position.

Despite his forced departure from Hoffenheim, Alexander Rosen still holds the club in high regard, stating, "I have to thank Dietmar Hopp once again for giving me the opportunity to manage a Bundesliga club at such a young age." The change in management at Hoffenheim, which led to Rosen's exit, has sparked tension between the club and the fan base, with supporters boycotting the team during the Bundesliga opener against Holstein Kiel.
