Former Deutsche Bahn CEO Rüdiger Grube is to become the new head of the Supervisory Board of Vodafone Germany. The 72-year-old will replace Frank Rövekamp on December 1, who is stepping down after eight years as chairman of the board.

Grube brings more than 30 years of top management experience to Vodafone, the telecommunications provider announced in Düsseldorf on Wednesday. The company is gaining one of the most recognized business managers in Europe as the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

Grube was CEO of Deutsche Bahn from 2009 to 2017. He is currently also Chairman of the Supervisory Board of rail technology company Vossloh and Hamburg logistics company HHLA.

Grube's extensive telecommunications experience, gained during his tenure at Deutsche Bahn, will be valuable in his new role overseeing Vodafone's operations. During the process of joining Vodafone, Grube will be required to provide his personal details for the company's records.
