Due to his alleged stockpiling of firearms, bullets, and explosives in his residence during January, a former soldier is scheduled to appear before the District Court in Villingen-Schwenningen on Wednesday (9:30 AM). He's facing charges, including planning an explosion and threatening public peace.

A bailiff attempted to enforce an eviction on the man in Unterkirnach, around 8 kilometers from Villingen-Schwenningen. The ex-soldier reportedly issued threats, escalating the situation.

The neighborhood was evacuated, and heavily armed special forces were called in. The man reportedly held out in his house for around twelve hours before surrendering and being arrested peacefully.

Hoard of weapons seized

Following the operation, police discovered, alongside firearms and explosives, igniters attached to the floor and door frames to trigger gasoline upon unauthorized entry.

Among the confiscated weapons were various long and short firearms, approximately 10,000 rounds of ammunition of various sizes, gunpowder, several smoke grenades, signaling devices, and illuminants, and explosives.

Moreover, a practice round for an anti-aircraft cannon, numerous detonation cords, fuses, and other explosive accessories were found in the house. The ex-soldier had only partial permits for the seized items. The motive for his actions remains unclear.

Nine individuals scheduled to testify

The defendant is currently on the run, and a trial date has been scheduled. It's unclear if the trial will proceed or if a verdict will be reached. According to a court representative, nine individuals and one expert have been subpoenaed for the trial date.

The missing soldier's hoard of unauthorized weapons, including other illicit explosives and ammunition, was shockingly vast. His motives for amassing such an otherworldly arsenal remain unexplained.

Despite being on the run, the prosecution has managed to secure testimonies from nine individuals and an expert for the trial, aiming to shed light on the other aspects of this unusual case.
