Former Ingolstadt coach Shedden new coach in Iserlohn
The Iserlohn Roosters from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) have hired Doug Shedden as their new head coach. The 62-year-old Canadian will succeed Greg Poss, who was let go by the DEL's bottom team in October. Since then, Poss' assistant coach Pierre Beaulieu had been in charge of the Roosters on an interim basis. Shedden already knows the DEL from his time at ERC Ingolstadt (2017 to 2022).
"The first thing is to get out of the relegation zone. If the coach, team and, of course, the environment are a unit, we can certainly do that," said Shedden. The former NHL professional has already worked as a head coach in Switzerland, Finland in the Eastern European KHL and in the second-tier North American professional league AHL.
Now Shedden is to get the Roosters back on track. "The shareholders have come to the conclusion that he is the right man with his CV and experience to help us in the current situation," said Iserlohn's managing partner Wolfgang Brück on Monday.
Shedden's experience in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) comes from his tenure at ERC Ingolstadt. Under his guidance, the Iserlohn Roosters aim to escape the relegation zone, having struggled since October when their previous coach Greg Poss was let go.
