Forestry Minister Schwarz presents forest status report
Schleswig-Holstein has a low proportion of forest compared to other federal states. However, the forest in the north should have come through the dry years better than in some other parts of Germany. The location between the seas is climatically favorable, and Schleswig-Holstein has only a few susceptible coniferous forests. The current situation after the recent rainy months is shown in the latest forest status report, which Forestry Minister Werner Schwarz (CDU) is presenting today (1 p.m.) in Ostenfeld in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde.
The presentation of the forest status report by Forestry Minister Schwarz highlights the resilience of Schleswig-Holstein's forest, particularly in the north, during the dry years. Despite having a lower forest coverage than other federal states, the climatically favorable location and limited susceptible coniferous forests may have contributed to better forest health in some areas.
