Forest areas in Saxony-Anhalt are growing
The forest area in Saxony-Anhalt has grown over the past six years. According to data from the State Statistical Office, the forest area has increased by 0.3 percent to around 462,000 hectares. This corresponds to almost a quarter of the state's total area. Across Germany, around 30 percent of the land area is designated as forest. Rhineland-Palatinate has the largest proportion of forest in the country with just under 41 percent, while Schleswig-Holstein has the smallest proportion among the federal states with around ten percent.
The growth in forest areas in Saxony-Anhalt also has positive implications for nature and environmental conservation. Furthermore, the increased forest cover contributes to a healthier and more sustainable agriculture, as forests help maintain soil health and regulate water cycles.
