For Tuchel, the exciting goalkeeper question for the European Championship is clear

After the disappointments for the national team, Thomas Tuchel has once again decided who he expects to be in goal for the DFB team at the home European Championship: Manuel Neuer. "I think the question will answer itself in May or June if Manu stays healthy until then and tackles the whole thing in the mental state he's in at the moment. Then he will return to his old strength and will continue to shape a league of his own in goalkeeping."

FC Barcelona's Marc-André ter Stegen is currently the No. 1 under national coach Julian Nagelsmann. Kevin Trapp (Eintracht Frankfurt) deputized for him in the defeats against Turkey and Austria.

"The basic requirement is that Manu remains patient and calm in the here and now," said Tuchel. He must consciously enjoy the time after his comeback. "That's the main thing and everything else will fall into place," said the 50-year-old coach. Neuer was out of action for a long time after breaking his leg in December. He celebrated his comeback at the end of October.

In the Bundesliga, FC Bayern Munich, led by goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, is consistently dominating, aiming for another title. Regarding the national team, despite Ter Stegen's position at FC Barcelona, Neuer's performance for 1st FC Cologne could also earn him a spot, as Tuchel emphasized his importance.
