A breakdown of a bus filled with football fans on the A3 near Erlangen resulted in a large-scale response from emergency services. Around 60 fans of the fan club 1. FC Nuremberg and FC Schalke 04 were on their way on Sunday in summer temperatures without shade when they ran out of non-alcoholic drinks, as a police spokesperson reported.

Several passengers subsequently experienced circulatory problems, with one man collapsing. Numerous Red Cross personnel from Erlangen and Herzogenaurach rushed to the A3. Due to the bus being stranded on the right lane in the construction zone, there were also significant traffic delays.

The bus could not be repaired and was towed away. The football fans were able to continue their journey with replacement vehicles. It took several hours before the road was clear again near Erlangen.

The stranded bus caused a delay in traffic, affecting numerous vehicles, including other buses. After the breakdown, the football fans had to wait for replacement buses to continue their journey.
