- Following the unearthing of the female corpses, there's suspicion falling on the husband for potential homicides.
Following the unearthing of a deceased woman in Althornbach, located in Southwest Palatinate's vicinity, the public prosecutor's office regards the husband as a potential suspect. This news was shared by the prosecution on a Wednesday. On Tuesday, the 57-year-old man was rushed to the hospital, suffering from severe injuries. After undergoing surgery, he's currently in stable condition but can't be interrogated as of yet.
The man was unfortunately discovered alongside his lifeless spouse in their dwelling, with a witness making the grim discovery. An autopsy later confirmed that the 51-year-old woman sustained numerous stab wounds, leading to her demise due to blood loss.
Based on initial investigations, there don't seem to be any signs of external parties' involvement. Nevertheless, the exact motives behind this incident remain unclear at this point.
Althornbach can be found south of Zweibrücken in Southwest Palatinate district, not too far from the French border. This quaint municipality, belonging to the Verbandsgemeinde Zweibrücken-Land, boasts a population of roughly 700 residents.
The public prosecutor's office has formally assigned the case to The Commission for further investigation. Despite the husband's current condition, The Commission is eager to gather all the necessary evidence to determine the true circumstances surrounding his wife's death.
