- Following the incident in Linz: Administrative oversight and entry restrictions

After an assault on a police station in Linz by an extremist group identifying with Islam, heightened security precautions have been put in place within the Neuwied district. This involves thorough inspections of bags and personal searches at every administrative building, as communicated by the Neuwied district authorities. Portable scanners are also being utilized to detect potential hazards. As shared by Landrat Achim Hallerbach (CDU), many of the younger officers are uneasy due to these events. He emphasized the need for sympathy towards the stringent safety checks.

On last Friday, a 29-year-old male, armed with both a machete and a blade, declared his intent to slay police officers while uttering "Allahu Akbar" repeatedly inside a police station. The law enforcement apprehended the man at a secure checkpoint, managing to subdue him via a stun gun, leaving no officers harmed.

Despite the increased security measures in response to the Linz incident, some officers express discomfort, viewing the enhanced checks as an infringement on their daily routines. Furthermore, discussions about the importance of understanding and accommodating these actions for the safety of everyone, including 'others', have started among the police force.
