The individual's health condition has since improved, allowing him to be accommodated back in a prison setting. The spokesperson opted not to provide any further details, citing privacy and security concerns.
Stephan Balliet, the perpetrator of this crime, was sentenced to life imprisonment with preventive detention following his actions in 2020. On the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, he attempted to storm a synagogue in Halle, Saxony-Anhalt, intending to commit a massacre. When he was unable to achieve his objective, he went on to murder two people near the synagogue instead.
Earlier this year in February, Balliet received a seven-year prison sentence for hostage-taking in the Burg prison. At the time, he claimed he wished to escape confinement.
Currently, Balliet is being held in custody under the highest security measures at a prison.
