- Following his departure from the national squad, Larsson continues training with Eintracht.
Hugo Larsson is back at training with Bundesliga team Eintracht Frankfurt after reportedly leaving the Swedish national squad due to an injury. The team is optimistic about his recovery, although a full assessment will be done later in the week, as per the club's statement.
Larsson unexpectedly left the Swedish team before their 3-0 victory against Estonia in the Nations League on Sunday. However, rumors in the press hint at a conflict between the 20-year-old and national coach Jon Dahl Tomasson, leading to his early exit. Their relationship is reportedly strained.
Larsson had a promising beginning to the season with Frankfurt, but was left out of the starting lineup for the 3-1 Nations League opener against Azerbaijan. The coach advised him to move forward on the field. "I was disappointed and had anticipated a different turn of events after my impressive start in Germany," remarked Larsson, a Frankfurt player.
Larsson joined Frankfurt from Swedish champions Malmö FF in the summer of 2023, and he is widely regarded as one of Sweden's brightest young prospects.
Larsson's absence from the Swedish team was noticeable during their training sessions in Hessen, the German state where Frankfurt is based. Following his return to Eintracht Frankfurt, Larsson expressed his eagerness to rejoin his teammates in Hessen for further training and matches.
