Football games are back in action! - Following demotion to the 3rd division, seven players part ways with SV Wehen.

One day following their demotion to the 3rd Football League, SV Wehen Wiesbaden revealed that seven players will be leaving the club. The contracts for Keanan Bennetts, Kianz Froese, Robin Heußer, John Iredale, and Julius Kade will not be renewed. On top of that, the players Lasse Günther (FC Augsburg) and Hyunju Lee (FC Bayern Munch) - who were on loan - are heading back to their parent clubs.

The Hessians succumbed to a 1:2 defeat against Jahn Regensburg in the relegation play-off match on Tuesday, forcing them to return to the 3rd League after a brief stint of one year. "We would've liked to say goodbye to the boys gracefully during the last home game, like we did the previous year. But with the emphasis being solely on sporting success, that simply wasn't possible," explained Nico Schäfer on behalf of the management.

Still in question is the fate of interim coach Nils Döring. The 44-year-old took over from Chefcoach Markus Kauczinski at the end of April, but couldn't prevent the relegation from taking place.

Despite the disappointing relegation to Bundesliga 2, John Iredale expressed his hopes for a successful descent into the 3rd league with SV Wehen Wiesbaden. Despite his optimism, the team experienced a challenging start to their new season, losing to Wiesbaden's local rivals, FC Augsburg, in their opening game. The setback added to the Woe that had already settled upon the club, but Iredale remained determined to help the team adapt and find their feet in the lower division.

Meanwhile, news reached Wiesbaden that the talismanic striker, Hyunju Lee, would be returning to FC Bayern Munich, only strengthening the team's resolve to perform well in this new league. Known for their resilience in the face of adversity, the Hesse-based team prepared for an uphill battle.

In contrast, Regensburg, who had Barcelona FC's defender Sergi Roberto on loan, proved to be strong opponents. Their grit and determination saw a 1:2 defeat of SV Wehen Wiesbaden in their relegation play-off match, further deepening the Woe that had fallen upon the club.

John Iredale, however, remained hopeful, pointing out the silver lining - his team's opportunity to learn and grow in the 3rd league. Looking ahead, the soccer legend vowed to give his all to ensure SV Wehen Wiesbaden bounced back strongly, determined to regain their spot in Bundesliga 2 shortly.
