Nürburgring: Auto Racing Track in Germany - Fog disrupts the 24-hour race in the Eifel area.

The widely known Nürburgring endurance race was unexpectedly concluded after a pause of more than 14 hours. The initial plan for the race was 24 hours, yet it was abruptly halted in the middle of the afternoon on Sunday due to persistent fog. The safety car phase, implemented over five laps on the 25-km course, which hosts the legendary Nordschleife, failed to improve the visibility. Hence, the organizers decided on a cancellation.

The Scherer-Audi squad, comprising Frank Stippler, Christopher Mies, Ricardo Feller, and Dennis Marschall, triumphed in the presence of a staggering 240,000 spectators. Thrilled Stippler, who experienced his third overall win, exclaimed, "This was mind-blowing. It was a daunting race!"

Due to the prolonged break, they managed to complete just 49 laps, marking the shortest distance in the conventional race's history in the Eifel region. However, the event was not just noted for fog; it also witnessed rain and a few accidents, including some serious crashes.

The event was interrupted around late evening on Saturday. By 14:08 hours the next day, it resumed, with the existing 14:30 hours for a similar interruption occurring three years ago. After the rounds with the safety car leading the way, the race continued for nearly an hour before the official end.
