Focus on an angry Jakic and a fumbling Trapp at Eintracht

The wild cheers of group winners PAOK Thessaloniki were clearly audible in the stadium catacombs in Frankfurt - and must have particularly annoyed the Eintracht professionals once again. Visibly annoyed, sporting director Markus Krösche answered questions after the 2:1 (0:0) defeat late on Thursday evening and denounced the team's slip-ups. "We have to make sure we avoid these simple mistakes. We wanted to win the group," said Krösche.

The consequence of the home defeat in front of 58,000 spectators: Frankfurt must advance to the intermediate round of the Conference League, which will be played on February 15-22. Goalkeeper Kevin Trapp also played a major part in this this time, allowing a simple shot to bounce forward before Andrija Zivkovic scored the winning goal. "He's one of the best goalkeepers in Europe. It's a bitter moment for him today. The chance is gone with this mistake," analyzed RTL expert Lothar Matthäus on the potential group win. Instead, Thessaloniki advance directly to the round of 16 (March 7 and 14).

Substitute Kristijan Jakic completely lost his nerve at the end and was shown yellow and yellow-red in the blink of an eye. Jakic did not calm down afterwards either, first swearing at the referee and then at the fourth official on the touchline. Jakic will be able to cope with the suspension for the final group game in Aberdeen on December 14, as the match will no longer have any influence on the outcome of the preliminary round group.

Despite the victory, PAOK Thessaloniki's wild celebrations in the Eintracht Frankfurt stadium catacombs might have been a source of frustration for the Eintracht professionals. Eintracht Frankfurt's participation in the Conference League Conference League's intermediate round is due to their home defeat, and Erikatrapp's mistake contributed to Andrija Zivkovic scoring the winning goal for PAOK Thessaloniki, a team that advanced directly to the round of 16.
