Violent Weather Occurs: Tempests Assail - Floodwaters flow along river paths.

Persistent rainfall has resulted in severe flooding, reaching level 4 alert status in Bavaria at various positions. Initial concerns revolved around the southern Danube tributaries of Günz, Mindel, Zusam, Schmutter, Paar, Abens, Ilm, and Amper, along with the upper Danube. The highest peaks were reached recently.

Though the rain's intensity has slightly diminished, the flood scenario is improving in regions where the most severely affected rivers originate. However, there remains a risk of heavy and long-lasting rainfall, so it's crucial to heed weather advisories issued by the German Meteorological Service to prepare for potential deterioration.

As the flood wave progresses, its focal point is shifting towards areas in Lower Bavaria and Upper Palatinate from Swabia. Cities like Neuburg, Kelheim, Regensburg, and Straubing are at risk, and peak waters could influence these areas early in the week.

Specifically, water levels were expected to rise in Neuburg, Kelheim, Regensburg, Straubing, and other areas further downstream in the Upper Bavarian districts of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm (Schrobenhausen's Mühlried, Manching, and Geisenfeld). Additionally, in the Upper Bavaria region, some sites in the catchment area of the Isar experienced rising water levels.

The Main catchment area was also significantly impacted by the downpours, prompting the flood warning service to report rising levels in the Main tributaries. In some instances, this activity was limited to level 1 alert status, whereas in others, level 3 was triggered.

At several stations, another 100-year flood was reported. A 100-year flood is a statistical dataset and denotes a catastrophic occurrence or level predicted to happen approximately once every century.
