Emergency preparedness - Floods in Bavaria prompt reactivation of emergency services.

Post the Bavarian flooding incident, the Hessian Disaster Control's rescue team is back home. Interior Minister Roman Poseck (CDU) expressed his gratitude towards the Hessian rescuers, commending their selfless and largely voluntary deployment. "We appreciate our rescue forces and cross-state solidarity," he said in a statement on Friday morning. These helpers had returned to their homeland on Thursday.

Bavaria reached out for assistance to neighboring states on Sunday, and by Monday, water rescue vehicles from various Hessian regions were dispatched to Nördlingen in Bavaria. The Hessian rescue team included 111 volunteers and 36 vehicles.

The water rescue vehicles were central to securing activities in at-risk areas and driving people to safety. The objective was to protect a vast agricultural enterprise in danger due to weakened dams. Their mission lasted around 80 hours, concluding on Thursday afternoon. Approximately 9,000 working hours were spent on these emergency operations by the 111 personnel dispatched.
