Flood situation in Bavaria eases for the time being

The flood situation in the south of Bavaria is easing for the time being after continuous heavy rainfall in some areas. On Wednesday, the flood information service expected the water levels on the Iller and Danube to reach reporting levels one and two - i.e. at most, there was a risk of individual outbursts in undeveloped areas. As the rain subsided, the water levels also decreased. The railroad reopened the train line between Immenstadt and Oberstdorf in the Allgäu region, which it had closed on Tuesday due to the risk of flooding.

However, the Free State is already facing a new flood risk on Friday. From Thursday afternoon onwards, new low pressure systems reached Bavaria, as a result of which the risk increased again, it was said. According to the forecast of the German Weather Service, the weather in Bavaria will remain unsettled in the meantime - with lots of clouds, scattered showers and temperatures of up to eleven degrees.

Despite the improving weather conditions, the railroad is still monitoring the tracks closely due to the past flood risk. The approaching storm on Friday might disrupt traffic once again, potentially causing another challenge for the railroad.
