- Flood control: water levels could rise sharply

Due to localized, at times severe, heavy rain overnight and on Wednesday, significant increases in water levels are possible in some streams and small rivers in Baden-Württemberg. The flood control center warned that in built-up areas, heavy rainfall could lead to localized overloads of the sewer system and rapid flooding of streets, basements, underpasses, and underground garages in individual cases. "Flooding of roads is also possible outside of urban areas," the center said. However, there is no regional flood risk for larger rivers.

The heavy rain has caused rivers in nearby areas to swell, potentially leading to flooding on their banks. In certain rural locations, rivers might overflow, resulting in temporary road closures.
