- Floatation devices spark extensive actions at Chiemsee
Due to a confusing situation between two floaters, numerous emergency services were summoned to Lake Chiemsee. According to a police spokesperson, a female observer from a balcony in Bernau (part of Rosenheim) spotted a swimmer with a red float, as per her statement. After briefly stepping inside, she returned to find only one float in the lake. Believing the swimmer to have drowned, she promptly phoned the emergency services, the spokesperson confirmed.
Rescuers from fire departments, water safety, and emergency services swarmed the area, conducting searches on land and in the water. It became apparent later that the float the woman noticed upon her return was actually attached to a fishing net. The swimmer, having already exited the water with his float, hadlong since departed, as reported by the police.
The woman's confusion about seeing only one float after initially noticing two led to the emergency call. Upon further investigation, the float was found to be attached to a fishing net, adding to the confusion.
