Handball Bundesliga - Flensburg's handball players without Kay Smits for the time being
Handball Bundesliga club SG Flensburg-Handewitt will have to make do without its backcourt player Kay Smits for the time being. As the club announced on Saturday before the away game at Frisch Auf Göppingen, the Dutch international is suffering from an inflammation of the heart muscle.
It is not yet clear how long the 26-year-old left-handed player will be out for. "We will continue to monitor his health with close monitoring, but fortunately we expect the illness to be mild," said SG team doctor Torsten Ahnsel. Due to his illness, Smits will miss the European Championship in Germany in January.
