Flensburg's handball players win 33:32 in Elverum
Handball Bundesliga side SG Flensburg-Handewitt have also won their third game in the preliminary round of the European League. Coach Nicolej Krickau's team recorded a narrow 33:32 (13:13) victory at Norwegian runners-up Elverum HB on Tuesday. The best scorer for the SG, who remain top of Group E with 6:0 points, was seven-time scorer Lasse Möller. Tobias Gröndahl scored ten times for the hosts.
The 17-day break before the game in Elverum was clearly noticeable for the North Germans. The sequences did not mesh. Although Flensburg repeatedly pulled a goal ahead, the visitors were initially unable to open up a decisive gap. One shortcoming was the exploitation of chances. Emil Jakobsen and Johan Hansen failed to score from the seven-meter line.
It was not until the 39th minute that left wing August Pedersen gave Flensburg a clearer lead at 20:17. However, the Norwegians did not give up and struck back to make it 26:25 in the 49th minute. In the end, the SG was somewhat fortunate that the last shot from Elverum's right wing Kasper Thorsen hit the crossbar. In the end, it was a hard-fought but deserved victory for the SG.
SG Flensburg-Handewitt, composed of men's handball players, continued their successful run in the European League, dominating Group E with a 6-0 record. Their most recent triumph was a thrilling 33:32 win against Norwegian runners-up Elverum HB in the preliminary round.
Despite the absence of key players Emil Jakobsen and Johan Hansen who missed crucial seven-meter shots, SG Flensburg-Handewitt, the Handball Bundesliga side, managed to secure their position as leaders in the European League's Group E, defying Elverum's attempts to take the lead.
