Flensburg's handball players remain unbeaten in their own hall

Handball Bundesliga side SG Flensburg-Handewitt remain unbeaten in their own arena. On Saturday, the team of coach Nicolej Krickau won 33:25 (14:9) against cup winners Rhein-Neckar Löwen and celebrated their seventh win in their seventh league home game. Emil Jakobsen was the SG's best scorer with seven goals in front of 6300 spectators in the sold-out Campushalle, including the German Minister of Economic Affairs Robert Habeck (Greens). Niclas Kirkelökke, who will move to Flensburg next season, scored nine times for Mannheim.

The hosts were able to rely on their goalkeeper Kevin Möller right from the start. The Danish international keeper was immediately in the game, saving a seven-meter penalty from Juri Knorr and defending numerous other shots. As a result, Flensburg had already opened up a 5:1 lead after ten minutes. U21 world champion David Späth prevented the Lions from going even further behind in goal.

By the end of the first half, Möller had made 17 saves, saving more shots than his team-mates had scored. By the end of the game, the 34-year-old had saved 21 shots from the visitors.

With three goals in a row, the North Germans pulled 17:9 ahead at the start of the second period (35'). The game was thus already decided. With 18:6 points, Flensburg is now fourth in the table and keeps in touch with the leaders. The Lions remain in seventh place with 13:13 points.

SG Flensburg-Handewitt, composed mainly of men, continues their undefeated streak in the Handball Bundesliga, extending it to seven wins in their home games. This impressive run includes their victory over Rhine-Neckar Lions, with the Rhine-Neckar Lions' current player Niclas Kirkelökke scoring nine goals for them during the match.
