Educational institutions - Flensburg hosts the country's Mathematical Olympiad round
Approximately 200 students hailing from various parts of Germany and German schools worldwide will convene in Flensburg until Sunday for the final round of the 63rd Mathematics Olympiad. During these two rigorous 4.5-hour exams, these mathematical prodigies must demonstrate their proficiency in solving even the most complex mathematical problems. According to the Europa-Universität, these young individuals have surpassed approximately 207,000 other aspiring mathematicians to reach this stage.
The Mathematics Olympiad welcomes more than 200,000 students in grades 3 to 13 annually. During this event, the keen-minded students show off their prowess in tackling perplexing challenges using logical reasoning, combinatorics, and creative utilization of various mathematical methodologies.
This competition unfolds in numerous stages. Those who excel in the initial school, regional, and state rounds have the opportunity to attend the Bundesrunde, which occurs annually in a different federal state. Additionally, the top-performing Olympians get selected for the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) selection phase. The Mathematics Olympiad Association e.V. funds and organizes the competition.
