- Five submissions for cannabis farming authorization in Thuringia thus far.

In the region of Thuringia, five organizations have submitted applications for growing marijuana. These include social marijuana clubs from Arnstadt, Erfurt, Jena, Weimar, and the district of Hildburghausen, as the Ministry of Infrastructure confirmed upon request. As per a cabinet decision, the Jena-based State Agriculture and Rural Affairs Office is responsible for granting permits for marijuana cultivation.

The authority is required to make a decision on the application within three months of receiving all necessary information and documents. The first permits are anticipated to be issued by October at the latest. According to Thuringia Cannabis Association's state spokesman, Friedemann Söffing, five additional clubs in the state are currently working on submitting similar applications.

The guidelines for non-commercial personal marijuana cultivation in cultivation associations became effective on July 1 of this year. However, this is contingent upon official permission and state oversight. The Jena-based State Agriculture and Rural Affairs Office is also responsible for enforcing and penalizing any violations related to cultivation associations.

One of the conditions for cultivation associations is proving that they will only distribute marijuana with a restricted THC content to adult members. THC is the psychoactive element found in a hemp plant. The clubs must also designate a trained representative for addiction prevention.

The five organizations in Thuringia aim to grow Cannabis, specifically marijuana, as their applications have been submitted to the Jena-Based State Agriculture and Rural Affairs Office. The THC content in the marijuana distributed by these clubs will be strictly regulated due to its psychoactive effects.
