Physical Activity - "Five Players Leave Hamburg's Bundesliga Handball Club"
HSV Hamburg won't renew the contracts of five players. They revealed this on Monday, stating that Jens Vortmann, Thies Bergemann, Max Niemann, Martin Risom, and Dino Corak would depart at the end of the year. Goalkeeper Vortmann and defender Bergemann were part of the team that gained promotion to the Bundesliga in 2021. Apart from Niemann, who's moving to TSV Ellerbek in the 4th division, no details about the remaining players' future clubs are known.
The fate of HSV Hamburg in the upcoming 2024/25 season remains uncertain due to their unconfirmed receipt of the necessary license from the Handball Bundesliga (HBL). The club has already had two licenses denied. On Thursday morning, an independent arbitration court will rule on the team's future, with the possibility of relegation to the 3rd league looming if the license isn't granted.
The last home game of the current season for HSV Hamburg, coached by Torsten Jansen, is set for Wednesday at 19:00 in the Sporthalle Hamburg against ThSV Eisenach. Officially announcing the five departures is also on the agenda.
