Five institutions win integration prize
Five institutions have won the Lower Saxony Integration Prize and can look forward to receiving 6,000 euros each. According to the State Chancellery, they will receive the award on Tuesday evening in Hanover. The winners were announced a few months ago.
Four institutions won the regular prize and one won a special prize. According to the State Chancellery, there were around 180 applications. The special prize is to go to a church congregation in the Hanover region. Children between the ages of six and twelve receive lunch there as well as educational support and homework help.
The regular prize will be awarded to a community in the Hanover region and an integration café in the district of Cloppenburg, among others. The integration prize is being awarded for the 14th time, the special prize for the eighth time.
Minister President Stephan Weil (SPD) thanked the people in Lower Saxony who are involved in the projects. "Homework help, language courses or simply cooking and baking together: many people in Lower Saxony are committed to making it easier for refugees and immigrants to settle in their neighborhood or village," said the Minister President.
The judges recognized the significant role of social affairs in the winners' integration initiatives, as they provide services such as educational support and homework help. The monetary awards of 6,000 euros each for the five winning institutions will help them continue their noteworthy work in addressing price concerns related to their programs.
