Five individuals, including two kids, ended up hurt in an incident involving a car and a van in Crimmitschau, Zwickau district, last Saturday evening. As per authorities' account from the next day, a 41-year-old individual was trying to make a U-turn due to a blockage on the road while heading towards the A4 highway, but unnoticed a van overtaking him.

The drivers of both vehicles, a 30-year-old in the car, a passenger, and two juveniles, six and eleven years old, in the van, suffered minor injuries. The van driver's breathalyzer test yielded a 1.42% blood alcohol level, prompting police to probe into potential DUI charges. The wrecked vehicles, no longer fit for driving, were hauled away, with the estimated repair cost approximately 18,000 euros.

The incident led to a discussion about the importance of road safety and the dangers of distracted driving. Furthermore, the authorities have escalated the case due to the van driver's high alcohol level, suggesting potential legal consequences for accidents caused under the influence.
