A collision involving five cars on the A5 highway near Gießen resulted in significant traffic disruptions. According to initial reports, five people sustained minor injuries, a police spokesperson in Gießen confirmed. There were no severe injuries, and none of the injured required hospitalization.
Following the accident, the A5 in the direction of Kassel was temporarily closed. The closure was lifted after approximately two and a half hours. At its peak, traffic backed up for around 12 kilometers, according to police. The cause of the collision was initially unclear.
The temporary closure of the A5 due to the accident caused inconvenience for numerous commuters. To prevent similar accidents, authorities plan to investigate the cause of the collisions thoroughly.
