- Fisherman plunges into Berlin waterway and perishes

A local angler took an unfortunate dive into a waterway in Berlin under the cover of night and met his demise. According to authorities, this tragic incident transpired at the Westhafen Canal in Moabit, in close proximity to the southern Seestraßen bridge and the highway entrance. Two blokes were casting their lines there around 2:00 AM on a Monday. One of them, a 64-year-old chap, slipped at the water's edge and plunged into the depths. Emergency responders were unable to retrieve him alive from the water. Their attempts to revive him proved futile.

The other fisherman stood by helplessly as he couldn't swim. Law enforcement discovered no indication of wrongdoing. The "B.Z." noted that the area featured a substantial retaining wall nearby, making the rescue efforts even more challenging.

The local news reported about the fatal accident, stating that the angler failed to survive after his unfortunate incident. Due to the complex layout of the Westhafen Canal, the emergency services found it difficult to rescue the man.
