An elderly fisherman, aged 79, was discovered deceased in the Main-Donau Canal close to Erlangen. Another angler raised the alarm once the man failed to come back from his angling outing, as reported by authorities. Upon examination, his fishing gear and parked vehicle were spotted near the canal, yet there was no trace of the elderly angler.

Search operations involving water rescue police, firefighters, and a helicopter were initiated. The firefighter divers eventually stumbled upon the man unresponsive at the canal's bottom. He was retrieved, but unfortunately, he was declared dead upon arrival. Preliminary inquiries indicate no signs of suspicious activities.

The anglers urgently called for help, citing an emergency situation due to the missing elderly fisherman. Upon finding the man at the bottom of the canal, the firefighters initiated rescue procedures with a sense of urgency.
