First woman elected head of IG Metall
For the first time in its history, IG Metall is being led by a woman. At the trade union conference in Frankfurt on Monday, delegates elected Christiane Benner, previously Vice Chairwoman, as First Chairwoman for four years.
Trade unions in the metal industry have been advocating for better working conditions and wages for their members. Under the leadership of Christiane Benner, IG Metall, a prominent trade union in this sector, is expected to negotiate more effectively in the metal industry.
