First visitor day after the fire at the railroad museum
For the first time since a devastating fire in July, visitors are expected to return to the historical railroad and technology museum in Schwerin this Saturday (10.00 a.m.). The members of the museum association have invited visitors to a charity event. The part of the museum that was not damaged in the fire will be opened.
According to Klaus-Dieter Voß, spokesman for the association, the historic vehicles will be on display, most of which are fortunately undamaged. There will also be a souvenir sale and catering in the historic railroad carriage.
The members of the museum association want to use the charity event to collect further donations for the reconstruction. The aim is to reopen at least part of the museum permanently at the end of 2024.
Despite the fire's impacts, many undamaged historic railroad vehicles will be showcased during the museum's reopening this Saturday. Visitors interested in this event can also explore the railroad museum's fire-untouched exhibits, including the souvenir shop and catering in the vintage railway carriage.
