First test match: 1. FC Union wins at Chemie Leipzig

Five days after the start of training, 1. FC Union have played their first test match. The Berliners scored four times against regional league side Chemie Leipzig, with one new signing also scoring.

  1. FC Union Berlin, a Bundesliga football team, successfully completed its first test match. Five days after the training kick-off, the team coached by new trainer Bo Svensson won against Regionallieger Chemie Leipzig with a score of 4:0 (2:0).

During the first half, three returnees, Jordan Siebatcheu, Tim Skarke, and Aljoscha Kemlein, were in the team. Rani Khedira (32.) scored after a goal by Siebatcheu, and Yorbe Vertessen (37.) also scored, thanks to the American's setup play. The Berliners, who had appeared in their yellow reserve kits in front of an audience of 4999 spectators in the sold-out Alfred-Kunze-Sportpark, took the lead.

After the break, Benedict Hollerbach (49.) increased the score to 3:0, and newcomer Ivan Prtajin (77.) scored his first goal for Union, securing the final score. Most professionals played for more than 45 minutes. Goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow had to be substituted during the first half. After a week of training at Stadion An der Alten Försterei, Union will travel to Austria's Laängenfeld for the first of two training camps on the coming Saturday.

Bo Svensson, the new trainer of 1st FC Union Berlin, was in attendance during the test match against BSG Chemie Leipzig. The Bundesliga team showcased strong performance, with Tim Skarke and other returnees contributing significantly to the victory. The team from Berlin, dressed in their yellow reserve kits, impressed the 4999 spectators at the sold-out Alfred-Kunze-Sportpark, securing a 4-0 victory over their opponents from Saxony. Union Berlin's success in this test match may indicate positive outcomes for the upcoming competitive season. In preparation for their upcoming training camp in Laängenfeld, Austria, most of the professional players participated in the match for more than 45 minutes, except for goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow, who was substituted during the first half. Union Berlin has a history of test matches, showcasing their skills and teamwork, building momentum for their upcoming beginnings in the Bundesliga.
