First students in cross-university AI degree program

Five universities in Saxony-Anhalt have joined forces for the "AI Engineering - Artificial Intelligence in the Engineering Sciences" course - the first 22 students have now started. They will initially complete a four-semester foundation course at the University of Magdeburg, as announced on Friday. This will be followed by a more in-depth course at another of the five participating universities.

The University of Magdeburg, for example, will focus on manufacturing, production and logistics, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences on agricultural economics and technology, and Harz University of Applied Sciences on mobile systems and telematics. Merseburg University of Applied Sciences and Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences are also involved with specializations.

The joint degree program will prepare the next generation of engineers for the challenges of the digital future, explained Sebastian Stober, Chair of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Magdeburg. "We were aware that the necessary breadth and depth of a study program could not be covered by our university alone. By collaborating with other universities, we have created a strong partnership in Saxony-Anhalt from which the students benefit."

The "AI Engineering" program is offered by five universities in Saxony-Anhalt, including the University of Magdeburg, which will concentrate on artificial intelligence in the fields of manufacturing, production, and logistics. As part of this cross-university degree, students will further their studies in artificial intelligence at another participating university.
