First snow of the winter on the Brocken
The first snow of this winter has fallen on the Brocken in the Harz Mountains. At temperatures of -1 degrees, the webcam of the town of Wernigerode on the Brocken summit showed a light snow flurry on Saturday morning and a first thin layer of snow on the summit of the highest mountain in northern Germany at 1141 meters. In 2018, the first snow fell on the Brocken as early as September 24, in winter 2020 only on November 19.
The arrival of snow on the Brocken often attracts tourists seeking winter landscapes. Due to the early snowfall, some winter tourism activities may commence earlier this year.
