Crime - First man killed, then aunt attacked - murder charge

He first killed a 63-year-old man in Berlin-Marzahn out of greed, then robbed and assaulted his aunt. The Berlin Public Prosecutor's Office has charged a 37-year-old man with murder, robbery resulting in death, extortion, and bodily harm. The German was arrested at the beginning of December and is in prison.

According to the investigation, he strangled and suffocated the 63-year-old man on November 27, 2023, whom he had met through a dating platform and lived with. To wipe out traces, he allegedly poured chlorine over the victim's head. The man is accused not only of burglary but also of acting out of greed: it was about getting the victim's phone, EC card, and keys.

With a spare key, he entered the aunt's apartment

The man allegedly obtained the spare key to the victim's aunt's apartment as well. When he visited her, the 86-year-old woman noticed him. The 36-year-old man allegedly pushed her, held her mouth and nose, and forced her to give him 115 Euros.

He fled immediately, but was arrested by the public prosecutor on December 4, 2023. His trial is now scheduled before the Berlin Regional Court.

The man's greed led him to commit further crimes, including extortion of his elderly aunt. His actions resulted in a bodily injury, as he forcefully took money from her. Despite his attempts to evade justice, he was eventually arrested by the public prosecutor's office in Berlin. His partner in crime, the 63-year-old man, tragically passed away due to the murder charge he was accused of.
