Usedom - Firefighter rescues vacationer from cold harbor water
A 59-year-old holidaymaker fell into the water in the harbor in Krummin on the island of Usedom (Vorpommern-Greifswald district) on Wednesday evening and was rescued by a firefighter. According to the police, the woman's 61-year-old husband alerted the rescue services. A 59-year-old fireman jumped to the woman and rescued her from the water. As he and the woman were hypothermic, both were taken to hospital for further medical treatment. The water at the scene of the accident had a maximum depth of three meters and a temperature of around zero degrees. The police assume that the woman was too close to the edge of the water and made a wrong step due to a visual impairment.
