Fires - Fire in waste storage facility in Mainz

A fire broke out in a waste storage hall in the Weisenau district of Mainz on Monday night. The hall of a waste disposal company was on fire, said a police spokesman. However, the fire department had brought the fire under control and prevented it from spreading further, they said. As the hall was located away from a populated area, there was no danger to the population or traffic. However, there was a noticeable smell of burning in the Mainz city area.

Due to the high heat, a neighboring warehouse was damaged. No people were injured in the fire. The extent of the damage and the cause of the fire were initially unclear. According to the police, however, there were no indications that the fire was caused by a third party.
