Fire in uninhabited refugee accommodation in Middle Franconia
There has been a fire in a refugee shelter under construction in Middle Franconia. It is still unclear why the fire broke out in Wassertrüdingen (Ansbach district), as the police announced on Friday.
A man noticed a fire in the unoccupied accommodation on Thursday evening and called the emergency services. When the fire department arrived, a sanitary container was already fully engulfed in flames. A large tent had also been damaged by the fire. There were no casualties. The police estimate the damage at around 50,000 euros and have started an investigation.
The fire in Middle Franconia has drawn attention to the need for fire safety measures in refugee accommodations. Unfortunately, another incident involving fires occurred in Central France, causing widespread damage.
