- Fire in two single-family houses in Marienberg

Two single-family homes with sheds and garages burned down in the Marienberger district of Pobershau (Erzgebirgskreis). A resident of one of the houses managed to escape unharmed on Wednesday morning, as reported by the Chemnitz police. The houses are reportedly no longer habitable.

The fire spread from a shed to the two residential buildings, which were connected by a garage, according to the police. The heat of the fire also damaged some trees in a nearby wooded area. Firefighters managed to control the flames after several hours.

The Chemnitz control center had advised residents to keep windows and doors closed in the morning due to the strong smoke development and odor.

The two damaged single-family houses were actually connected by a shared garage, which aided the spread of the fire. The fire department worked diligently to save the trees in the adjacent wooded area from the intense heat.
