Fire in room in refugee home in Cologne: evacuation
A refugee home in Cologne is uninhabitable for the time being after a fire on Wednesday. The housing office has accommodated around 50 people in alternative accommodation, the fire department announced in the evening. A room had caught fire in the home in Cologne-Mülheim. One person inhaled smoke fumes, was treated by the emergency services and taken to hospital. The fire was extinguished after a few minutes, it was reported. However, the building is uninhabitable due to the soot.
Due to the fire, many refugees have been displaced temporarily. The soot from the incident has made the refugee home in Cologne-Mülheim unsuitable for its residents.
