County of Ravensburg - Fire in residential building: suspected arsonist in custody

Through the flames in the first upper floor, the hallway and the staircase had been filled with smoke and overheated. Several residents had to be rescued from the upper floors using fire department ladders.

The suspect suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning and was taken to a clinic for treatment. Many of the apartments were reportedly still not habitable. Some residents were accommodated elsewhere by the city.

The investigation into the causes of the fires was handed over to the public prosecutor's office in Baden-Württemberg. The Ravensburg Police department collaborated closely with the fire department during the rescue operations. A criminal investigation was launched by the Police President's Office in Sta (State) Baden-Württemberg, focusing on potential arson as a cause of the blaze.
