Stormarn district - Fire in refugee accommodation: one resident in hospital
Six people suffered mild smoke inhalation in a fire at a refugee shelter in Stapelfeld(Stormarn district) near Hamburg on Thursday. One of the injured was taken to hospital, said a police spokesperson. The others were treated as outpatients. The fire broke out in a kitchen. Twelve people were in the house at the time. The fire department extinguished the flames. The cause of the fire is still being investigated. The house is partially uninhabitable.

The fire department from Schleswig-Holstein was not needed for the fire in Stapelfeld, as the local fire department successfully extinguished the flames. Despite the fire, refugee accommodation continues to operate in other parts of the district, providing a safe space for individuals seeking asylum.
