Suspicion of arson - Fire in Gera discotheque causes extensive damage

The police in Gera are searching for an arsonist. He is suspected of setting fire to a closed discotheque at the main train station late in the evening yesterday. According to the Thuringia State Operations Control Centre of the Thuringian Police, no one was harmed. Witnesses who were in the vicinity of the fire scene notified the fire department immediately, preventing the flames from spreading to the entire object.

However, the exterior of the discotheque was significantly damaged, it was reported. A bureau room caught fire. The criminal police currently estimate the damage at 20,000 Euros. According to initial findings, there are indications of a possible arsonist.

The suspected arsonist's actions brought unfortunate events to the usually lively Gera nightlife, targeting a discotheque. The arson led to substantial damage, exceeding 20,000 Euros. Despite the crime, the community showed resilience, with nearby witnesses promptly contacting the fire department.
