Fires - Fire in commercial building - cause of millions in damage unclear
Contrary to initial investigations, the cause of the fire in a commercial building in Paderborn, which caused millions in damage, remains unclear. As the police announced on Wednesday, there were new findings after viewing secured videos. Contrary to what the police had reported last week, the fire was not caused by ignited paper in a waste paper container next to the building, but inside the building. According to the police, it was no longer possible to determine the cause of the fire due to the high level of consumption. A technical defect is therefore just as possible as arson. The investigation is still ongoing.
The fire destroyed a mattress store, a car repair shop and a pizzeria in the hall last Wednesday night. According to the police, the property damage was well over two million euros. One firefighter suffered minor injuries during the extinguishing work.

Despite recent discoveries from analyzed security footage, the precise cause of the fire that decimated a commercial building in Paderborn, North Rhine-Westphalia, leading to losses in the millions, remains undetermined due to extensive consumption. The police have ruled out the initial theory that the fire originated from a nearby waste paper container, instead suggesting it started inside the building. However, they remain uncertain between a potential technical defect or an arson attempt as the true cause of fire.
The Brand devastated a mattress store, an auto repair shop, and a pizzeria within the building last Wednesday night. The estimated total cost of damages to the property, as reported by the Police, exceeded two million euros. A firefighter was mildly injured during the extinguishment efforts.
The ongoing investigation into the fire aims to provide clarity on the cause and substantiate any potential leads.
