- Fire halting suppression in Jüterbog's forest region
The forest blaze that ignited on a old military drilling ground close to Jüterbog, south of Berlin, has noticeably shrunk in scale. Presently, just a tiny section at the heart of the location is ablaze - the flames have been put out at the peripheries, as a representative from the command center declared. As a result, the fire department concluded their extinction operations by Friday evening.
The origin of this blaze, which began on Thursday, remains a mystery. Underground ammo made the extinguishing process tricky. A helicopter was called in for air support during the crisis. Previous fires have taken place on this site. The fire spread over approximately 180 hectares, as per reports, with up to 70 emergency personnel on hand. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The fire department will keep an eye on the site over the weekend. A handover to the proprietor is scheduled for Monday.
Despite the challenging conditions due to hidden ammunition, firefighting efforts managed to extinguish the flames at the peripheries of the forest blaze. The firefighting team can now focus on maintaining control over the remaining firefighting in the heart of the firefighting site.
