Delays - Fire department operation in Tornesch: Wheelset on train needs to cool down
Following a fire department operation, there were disruptions on the railroad line between Pinneberg and Elmshorn on Wednesday evening. In Tornesch, a train belonging to the private operator Nordbahn was standing on the open track because a wheel set had apparently overheated and now had to cool down, said a railroad spokeswoman in Berlin. The fire department had been called in for safety reasons. The train would continue under its own power as soon as the wheelset had cooled down. The spokeswoman was unable to say how many people were on the train. The incident occurred at around 6.30 pm.
The Nordbahn company announced that there would be delays and train cancellations on the RB61/RB71 line between Elmshorn and Pinneberg. Buses or the Hamburg S-Bahn were suggested as alternatives.
