Fire department finds dead woman in apartment building during operation
The fire department has found an 84-year-old woman dead in her burnt bed in an apartment building in Munich. The emergency services were alerted on Wednesday evening due to the smell of burning in a stairwell, as the fire department announced on Thursday.
The emergency services had noticed a slight smell of burning. For this reason, the apartments were also checked and the door to an apartment on the third floor was opened after no one there responded to the emergency services. There, the firefighters found the 84-year-old woman dead in her bed, according to the statement. The fire in the apartment had reportedly extinguished itself and the fire had cooled down.
A police spokeswoman said that the investigation into the cause was ongoing. It could not be ruled out that the woman was already dead, nor that she died as a result of the fire.
The fire incident in Munich prompted concerns in Upper Bavaria, as the fire department dealt with a fatal incident in an apartment building. Despite the apartment fire in Munich being extinguished, the cause of which is under investigation, the unfortunate event involved fatalities, with a deceased woman found in her apartment on the third floor.
