Radiological Substances - Fire Department: All-clear after accident involving radioactive substances

After an accident involving a car carrying radioactive substances in Berlin-Mitte, the fire department has given all clear. No substance had leaked, all containers were intact, a Fire Department spokesperson told the German Press Agency. The measurements showed that there was no danger for people in the vicinity. The "Tagesspiegel" reported that possibly radioactive substances had leaked.

The accident occurred in the morning at the corner of Chausseestraße/Schwartzkopffstraße. The car, according to the Fire Department spokesperson, had loaded radioactive substances for medical purposes. What exactly it was about, the spokesperson did not say.

The Fire Department's quick response prevented any significant spread of radioactive substances following the accident. The Berlin authorities are now investigating the reports of leaked substances as mentioned in "Tagesspiegel". The fire department has recommended regular safety checks for such automobiles carrying hazardous materials, emphasizing the importance of their automatic warning systems in such situations.
